The Music Tree

 

The Music Tree is the fifth consecutively awarded UKRI/AHRC project (2023-2024) led by Dr. Haili Ma. It is an original mixed reality interactive experience via a bespoke mobile web app developed by two UK digital companies, HUMAN and Megaverse and launched across the UK and Shanghai, jointly hosted by Shanghai Textile Museum, Shanghai Yue Opera House and Shanghai Municipal Government.

As an ‘action-research’, the development of the project is highly iterative, with the research team working closely with industry partners in a reflective and participatory manner. The process further tests the formation a UK-China ‘creative chain’ that may outlive the duration of the funded project and how the creative content may evoke a shared memory of the post-industrial transformation across the UK-China communities and deepen the understanding of UK-China Creative Industries formation and development.

The Music Tree has been planted across the UK and China between November 2023 and January 2024, and enjoyed by a true global audience!
