"Why do you want to tell this story?" People frequently ask me this question. To make this performance during the COVID global lockdown and relied exclusively on digital platforms with a team across the UK and China who had never collaborated before was extremely challenging and I struggle to give a succinct answer. Perhaps guilt? or perhaps a sense of responsibility? Either way, my personal experience of China's 1990s post-industrial transition shapes the story - Song of the Female Textile Workers, The Story behind The Story.
