A new partner - Shanghai Textile Museum
We are delighted to announce that Shanghai Textile Museum has become our latest project partner on Bridging the Gaps!
Shanghai Textile Museum was opened officially on January 7, 2009. Its former site, Shenxin Textile Factory No. 9 was formerly known as the Shanghai Machine Weaving Bureau, built in 1878. The museum has a 4,000-square-meter exhibition area, holds a vast collection of ancient, modern and contemporary artifacts that pertain to the rich history of China Textile Industry, also known as China's Mother Industry. The Museum also has a traditional theatre and a 3D theatre space, representing xiqu development from a folk community art to modern theatrical form, under the direct patronage of the female textile workers.
Shanghai Textile Museum will provide its theatre spaces as their in-kind and cash contribution for rehearsal and filming of our project Song of the Female Textile Workers (2020-2022).
