Project Manager - Mr Ken PROCTOR

Mr Ken Proctor completed 30 years of service with the North Yorkshire Police in 2016, where his career focussed on Major and Serious Crime investigations. As a Detective Sergeant based with the Serious Crime Team at Scarborough he managed a team of detectives and their caseloads, whilst as an Advanced Suspect Interviewer and Advanced Interview Advisor (Tier 5 - highest UK national level) he was seconded to Major Crime Investigations throughout the county.

He completed his MA in Forensic Linguistics at the Centre for Language and Communication Research, School of English Communication and Philosophy, Cardiff University 2017-2018 and commenced a PhD study before relocating back to Yorkshire.

Ken has worked with Dr Haili MA on a variety of UK-China projects. He assisted in organising the 2019 AHRC Partnership Development Project: Bridging The Gaps: Mixed Reality Performance of Chinese Opera in Shanghai’s Rural and Urban Heritage Sties and in the submission of the grant application for the current project: Bridging The Gaps: Mixed Reality Performance of Chinese Opera in Rural and Urban Shanghai (2020-2024). Ken is also the project manager on the latest award Song of the Female Textile Workers (2020-2021).

As Project Manager, Ken is responsible for all logistical and administrative duties, whilst managing a team of interpreters/translators and ensuring the maintenance of sound working relationships amongst the project team. Using his experience and skills in communications, management and transnational investigations, Ken will support the development and consolidation of UK-China partnership building and assist the delivery of project outputs.
